Here is a stress and anxiety hack that, if practiced consistently, is said to show amazing results after six weeks (although some clients have noticed a difference within one week). With practice and consistency, it produces a pleasant altered state of consciousness. It is also said to help with sleep issues, but you’ve gotta do it twice daily (four repetitions) – once in the morning and once at night (after one month you can increase to eight repetitions). People have even reported a reduction in blood pressure.
I tell my clients to consider doing it before each meal so it’s easy to remember to do it and three times a day is even better. Others like to do it first upon awakening and right before going to sleep at night. Through time, it has an impact on the nervous system.
I learned this method from Dr. Weil during my Health Coach training, although it is an ancient yogic technique. He says it’s a great tool to use if you have cravings (cigarettes, alcohol, sweets, etc) and he swears by it for getting back to sleep if you wake up during the night. Check it out.
Dr. Weil states that “it is the most powerful anti-anxiety measure that I’ve found” and goes on to share about a patient that was able to overcome the worst case of panic disorder he’d ever seen (who was dependent on valium, etc) and after about two years of doing this breath work regularly he was able to get off of all medication!! How powerful is that?!!
